Episode 02

This past week, overall, was productive and fun. For ISM, I began researching more into the field of my topic, assistive robotics. I’m doing the topic both for ISM and AP Research, and with the work for both of those classes combined, I think I’ve read/skimmed around 20 papers on the subject. Through this, I feel more well-versed in the subject and it’s only made me more interested. Some papers I thought were interesting included ““Efficacy and Effectiveness of Robot-Assisted Therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder: From Lab to Reality” by David et al., along with “DexKit: A Hardware Platform for Multi-Finger Dexterous Robotics” by King et al. The first showed applications of robots more in a therapeutic sense; I found it really interesting to learn more about the psychological adjacent side of the field. The second paper detailed a low-cost, soft robotics arm with really cool capabilities; this caught my eye because I think I wanted to build something, I could base it off a project like this.

On the other side of things, this week my friends and I started a rec soccer team; we had our first game on Sunday and sadly lost 1 - 7. We play again next week, and I don’t think it can get much worse, so I’m looking forward to that.
